Mr. Justin Weakland

Justin has a long history with Marathon High, first starting in 2015 as a Volunteer Run Buddy. The next season in that same year, the founder of Marathon High asked him to be a Volunteer Coach at a local high school. A season after that she asked him to become a volunteer program coordinator for Marathon High! In 2023 after a hiatus from the program, he was voted to the Board of Directors and later as Vice Chair in 2025.

Justin Weakland is dedicated to making an impact to both his local community and organizations worldwide. In Jacksonville, he was a founding member and first Vice President of the Jacksonville Naval Museum that brought the USS Orleck Museum ship to Jacksonville. He also created the small business named Hidden Jacksonville LLC, one of Jacksonville’s fastest growing and most popular social media influencers. Hidden Jacksonville provides personalized social media promotions and advertising, completes special projects within the community, and provides curated tours of Jacksonville.

Justin retired from the Navy after serving for 20 years. His tours varied widely, to include three years on a Destroyer homeported in San Diego, CA that saw combat action in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003; stationed in Italy with a NATO Headquarters command; and two very unique tours onboard a Thailand Naval Ship and Korean Naval Ship chasing pirates off the coast of Somalia.  He was first stationed in Jacksonville in 2006. In total, Justin has been able to visit 28 countries around the world through his time in the Navy!

A native of Tampa, Justin and his wife fell in love with Jacksonville’s unique neighborhoods and decided to settle down in San Marco after retiring from the Navy.  He is currently working at Aviation Systems Engineering Company (ASEC), where he serves as a Program Manager and Training Lead for Electronic Mission Support Ground Systems for the P-8A Poseidon aircraft. This role has him working around the world with the US Navy, UK’s Royal Air Force, and the Royal Australian Air Force.

Justin and his wife have two children and enjoy walking and bicycling in San Marco and the South Bank. He first started running as a teenager in high school track and later on in life has run three marathons to help raise money for cancer charities. In Justin’s free time, he serves as Vice Chair, Board of Directors for the Jacksonville non-profit Marathon High FL Inc., is an ambassador for the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville, and advisor to three other community non-profits.
