Executive Director Job Description
Contract Summary: Reporting to the Marathon High board of directors, the executive director is responsible for the overall management, organization, growth, and financial solvency of Marathon High.
Season 10 Goals to Meet:
Revenue: $90,000 per fiscal year
Number of local public high schools: 20-22
Number of students signed up: 600
Retention rate: 70%
I. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Fundraising
-
Achieve MH’s annual fundraising goals
-
Develop annual donor plan with board
-
Research, write and submit grant proposals to foundations and companies
-
Create and promote individual donor campaigns and events
-
Coordinate and oversee student fundraiser
B. School, Coach, and Student Acquisition and Retention
-
Promote program to all local high schools
-
Recruit coaches and build coaching roster
-
Plan and lead pre-season training meetings with coaches
-
Plan and lead post-season celebration event with coaches
-
Deliver informational sessions at participating schools and get students to sign up
-
Maintain weekly communication with coaches
-
Maintain regular communication with parents
C. Marketing and PR
-
Promote MH to our three key audiences: students, parents, school staff
-
Manage and update organization’s website
-
Post ongoing social media campaigns on all platforms
-
Seek opportunities to cross-promote with partners
II. OTHER DUTIES:
A. Lead volunteers or part-time contractors and get them to organize and execute:
-
Shoe distribution days for students in need
-
All-school group runs
-
MH booth at the races/expos on our schedule
-
Pick-up days for coaches to get their team shirts and hoodies
B. Administration
-
Work with Treasurer to develop quarterly updates for board of directors
-
Attend board meetings
-
Manage insurance
-
Send thank you notes to sponsors and volunteers
-
Manage organization’s database
-
Oversee storage unit
C. Oversee the Program
-
Deliver and review post-season surveys from students and coaches
-
Order team shirts and hoodies
-
Work with 1st Place Sports and coaches to manage registration process for the races on our schedule
-
Ensure that coaches are informed on how to handle tasks related to their team
-
Be present to represent and oversee our events, races, coach meetings, and group runs
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
— Passion for the mission of Marathon High
— Exceptionally strong leader and visionary
— Excellent communicator with strong writing skills
— Excellent organizational skills
— Resourceful, independent, multi-tasker
— Excellent at recruiting and leading teams and volunteers
— Strong marketing, PR, and social media skills
— Experience and knowledgeable runner
— Knows how to organize and promote events to create a great experience
— Financially savvy
— Excels at computer software — Google spreadsheets, database, registration/email platforms, graphics, etc.
— 10+ years of professional business experience (nonprofit experience a plus)
COMPENSATION:
Compensation is commensurate with experience. This is a part-time position, work from home with an average of 25-30 hours a week. Must have your own laptop and be available some evenings and weekend mornings.
